If you're a beginner, really the best thing you could do is buy a good book and read it all the way through before sinking a dollar of your own money. The Motley Fool has a good one for starters, Jim Cramer's Real Money is also good, and there are several of those "Dummies" type books available.

Reading them closely and not investing until you have a good feel for the concepts would be a wise move.

The second wisest thing is to fully accept the concept that "cheap" stocks are usually not the best thing for a new beginner to invest in. Much talk on this message board is about "penny stocks," those usually under $1/share. It's true money can be made in those investments, but it typically requires a great deal of skill. It's much easier for a novice investor to lose all their money. While you're learning, you're usually better off investing in high-quality stocks that are less likely to tank.

ATS,,,
if you begin tradeing you will 99% not enjoy success,,,,, keep at the capping youll make thousands more in this arena if your anygood,,,

If you absolutely must trade in the market,, there are many many no load Mutual funds out there that you can get in relatively cheap you can diversify this way and protect yourself,,,

I have spent thousands of hours reading reports,,, tradeing,, and befreinding great traders,,,, and the 1 common theme with all of them(the successful ones) is that they have a small ammount of inside information, they have a small ammount of control over several market makers,,, and they are able to make their Big Hits there,,

the markets are NOT kind to beginners,,, capping is much easier,,:thumbsup2:
